Overview

Julian Beatty from Nova Q Ltd will be providing an overview of biological wastewater treatment concepts and recent technological advances. The webinar will be of interest to all engineers with an interest in wastewater treatment, and those wishing to improve understanding of biological treatment for industrial wastewaters. The webinar is particularly of interest for experienced practitioners such as environmental engineers and those working at or designing wastewater facilities. 

The webinar will cover:

  • key concepts of biological treatment - bacteria use
  • nitrification and denitrification
  • optimising wastewater chemistry for nitrogen removal
  • activated sludge theory (retention time, growth kinetics, recycle, clarification)
  • biomedia and nanobubble technology.

Presenter

Julian Beatty, Managing Director, Nova Q

Julian has over 10 years of experience in biological systems for water, aquaculture, agriculture and organics recycling. Having worked for the previous 15 years in technical sales for the pharmaceutical and food industries, he founded Nova Q in 2009 with a vision of linking the best available emerging technologies and environmental solutions for his established network in Ireland and the UK. His experience in wastewater treatment is centred on nitrification and denitrification, where he advises clients and provides training in biological water treatment across Europe and North America.

Nova Q are environmental sustainability specialists linking the best available technologies with innovative clients in water, aquaculture, agriculture and organics recycling, helping them on their journey beyond net zero. They are the lead distributor in Europe for US bacteria company BluePlanet Labs, providing technical support for biological solutions in wastewater treatment, agriculture and environmental remediation projects.
