Aimed at young chemical engineering professionals and students, this webinar aims to show how general chemical engineering knowledge, principles, and acquired experience can be applied during a career in a wide range of areas, from developing and deploying innovative strategies, to design of new facilities, and conceptual design of supply chains.

Attendees should gain an appreciation of how a career in chemical engineering can be extremely varied, offering extensive opportunities to both extend knowledge and skills, and get involved in new areas within a business, while continuing to work within the engineering discipline.

Presenter

Adam Barnes, AkzoNobel

Adam Barnes is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with 28 years experience working in process support, continuous improvement, operations, projects, and process technology development and deployment.

He started as a graduate trainee in the chemicals industry, then moving to work in the food industry, before spending the last 16 years in paints and coatings. He is now responsible for process technology for liquid paints and coatings for AkzoNobel, a large global manufacturer of paints and coatings with UK brands including Dulux and International Paints.

Adam Barnes will be giving an overview of his career in different process industries as a chemical engineer. He will show, using examples, how chemical engineering know-how can be applied in the areas of process innovation, process technology, and sustainability to deliver performance improvements.

A one-hour online session: 40 minutes' presentation + 20 minutes' Q&A.
