Webinar: Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering

Webinar: Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering
  • Date From 8th December 2020
  • Date To 8th December 2020
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 18:00 GMT. Duration: 1 hour.

Overview

Antonio del Rio Chanona will be giving an overview and opportunities of artificial intelligence in chemical and biochemical process industries. He will show, using examples, how data and artificial intelligence can be used in chemical engineering and how it can be applied in different areas like process design and control.

Presenter

Antonio Ehecatl del Rio Chanona, Imperial College London

Dr. del Río-Chanona is a Chemical Engineer graduated from UNAM University in Mexico. During his undergraduate studies he worked at Procter & Gamble in the finance department attend the Stanford Summer International Honours Program, and graduated with honours by a dissertation on dynamic optimization algorithms.

He pursued his doctoral studies in chemical engineering at the University of Cambridge, where he received the Danckwerts-Pergamon Prize for the best doctoral thesis of his year. He subsequently moved to Imperial College as a Research Fellow at the Center for Process Systems Engineering, where in 2019 he was awarded the Sir William Wakeham award for early career researchers for significant contributions to the field of systems modelling, optimization and machine learning.

He has also been recognized as a Top Young Author by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), and the Nicklin Medal by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in recognition of being “An exceptional young scientist whose research will have significant impact in areas of process systems engineering, industrialisation of bioprocesses, and adoption of intelligent and autonomous learning algorithms to chemical engineering”. He is currently Assistant Professor and director of the Optimisation and Machine Learning for Process Systems Engineering Lab at Imperial College London.
