The presentation will focus on the main cause of global warming – the extensive use of fossil fuels used for energy generation, will examine the fossil CO2 emission for various countries and present the hydrocarbon usage in Malaysia.

The two main sources of greenhouse gases in Malaysia are identified as electricity generation and manufacturing. Malaysia needs to shift its electricity generation away from fossil-based hydrocarbons by expanding and utilising available clean technologies and increasing energy efficiency in the demand side. The manufacturing sector uses about 40% of the electricity consumed in Malaysia and contributes to 22.3% of total GHG emission in Malaysia. The presentation will detail the implementation of a cost-effective strategy to reduce the energy consumption - Energy Management (hence reducing electricity utilisation).
