Speaker

Iqbal Essa (PGDipOHS, CMIOSH; CEng; CSci; CChem; FRSC; FIChemE) - Chairman, IChemE Loss Prevention Bulletin

Over a lengthy career with the HSE, Iqbal’s activities and responsibilities were to include such as the Assessing of COMAH Safety Reports, on a wide range of workplaces including Top-Tier COMAH sites, to ensure the compliance with COMAH (the Control of Major Accident Hazards) Regulations 1999. He was also to lead the Fire and Liquefied Flammable Gases Technical Knowledge Group, whose duties are to afford expert technical advice to Industry, whilst also providing specialist enforcement support, leading to prosecution in Magistrate and Crown Courts.

And, as in the case of this evening’s presentation, the story develops as the investigative work into the event progresses, arising from which there was a case which went to court.
