The Annual Meeting of the North West Members Group will be held on 29 June as a webinar, followed by a guest speaker Alistair Robertson, presenting "Mending the Skills Gap – Who’s responsible?"

Speaker

Alastair Robertson, Director of OSL Consulting Engineers

Alastair is a founding shareholder and director of OSL Consulting Engineers, which was formed in 2005 and now includes 100+ people with an international presence through its office in southern Spain. He has a BSc (Hons) in Chemical and Process Engineering from Heriot Watt University and became a chartered engineer in 1994. He became a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2001, has been a Fellow of the Energy Institute since 2019 and Trustee since 2015. He has over 30 years of experience in the gas processing and energy industry. He has an in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, having worked as a consultant for most of the energy producing companies in the UK.

Alastair uses his knowledge and experience to provide clients with implemented solutions to a variety of challenges in their businesses. Having gained a CQRM qualification in Risk Management, he understands the importance of “real options” valuations in framing the business opportunities in the energy sector, complemented by the “Clever Thinking” approach to solving techno/economic problems.

He has undertaken a leading role in the development of engineers, from graduates to senior level, to ensure that the same skills and experience are retained within the company and wider industry. OSL Consulting Engineers has an established graduate training programme which is part of IChemE ACTS. In addition, OSL Consulting Engineers is also a Silver Corporate partner, underpinning its commitment to the IChemE.

As the business director/owner he provides a hands-on approach to business developments with a can-do attitude to the energy transition agenda.
