The Joint Chemical Engineering Committee (JCEC) Queensland invites you to join them on a site tour of the Incitec Pivot - Gibson Island Facility (Nitrogen Based Products).

Gibson Island makes up one half of Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) Brisbane Operations, the other being the Pinkenba site. Between the two, it runs two Product Distribution Centre's (PDC's) and manufacturing sites.

The Brisbane manufacturing plants primarily produce nitrogen based fertiliser, with products including ammonia, urea, ammonium sulphate and carbon dioxide. Approximately 550,000 tonnes of fertilizer are dispatched each year from Gibson island, as well as half of Queensland's liquid CO2.

The site features the only high pressure urea plant operating in the world, whilst Dyno Nobel's Asia Pacific business is also headquartered on the island. Approximately 400 employees work between the Gibson Island and Pinkenba sites.

Mandatory PPE

The site has a strict clean-shaven policy.

Participants should bring as a minimum a long sleeved shirt, long trousers, and enclosed shoes. Participants are to bring their own PPE, if available, to ensure a smooth start to the event, however the site also has a supply. Site PPE includes safety boots, high vis shirt / vest, safety glasses, safety helmet, and protective gloves.

At the registration link, participants will be prompted on which items of PPE they are able to bring to ensure that site has sufficient spares. If not bringing your own boots, please also advise on shoe size. Participants may be contacted to confirm the PPE they are bringing. Tour will be of the perimeter of the plant as a default due to the requirement for safety boots when entering the process areas and the limited supply of these. However, participants bringing their own safety boots (or able to be fitted with a pair onsite) may have the opportunity to partake in a full tour of the plant.

COVID-19 declaration

All participants must fill out the COVID-19 declaration form (this will be emailed to you upon registration) and provide a copy to the company representative on arrival.
