Professor Adam Harvey who heads the Process Intensification Network at Newcastle University will explain what process intensification is, why we should be doing it and how it could/should change the process industries.

This will be followed by the 10th Annual General Meeting of IChemE's Scottish Members Group (SMG). In particular, the IChemE SMG is seeking to elect new Committee Members from within our membership, including a new Chair (or co-Chairs) and a new Treasurer.

The IChemE Scottish Members Group committee provides a local platform for the fulfilment of IChemE’s objectives, delivers a consistent and engaging programme of activities, meets the needs of our specific community, stimulates increased member involvement in IChemE activities and, in doing so, enhances the value associated with membership. Is it entirely made up of volunteers who give some of their time and bucketloads of their enthusiasm to the community.

With Membership of over 2000 people, across a large geographic area and broad range of sectors, the SMG is one of IChemE's largest and most diverse Member Groups globally. IChemE SMG activities are run by our members, for our members. Voluntary effort and contribution on the part of the membership is at the heart of the Group's success.

Professor Harvey is the Professor of Process Intensification and Head of the Process Intensification Group (PIG) at Newcastle University, which currently has approximately 70 active researchers. He also runs, with Prof David Reay, the Process Intensification Network (PIN), an international network to promote Process Intensification to academia and industry. He is one of the three authors of the main textbook on Process Intensification: “Process Intensification: Engineering for Efficiency, Sustainability and Flexibility”.
