Overview

The increasing awareness in sustainability has been pushing forward the development of bioprocess in replacement of harsh chemical process. Many companies are transforming their production processes into biochemical process to achieve greater sustainability. Bioprocess, which is also termed as the “greener process”, has been the hot topic in various research fields.

In this talk, the rising opportunities of biochemical engineers in the field of chemical industry will be shared. Also, the increasing importance of engineers with PhD qualifications in the industry will be discussed. This talk is targeted to prospect graduates from bioprocess background with interest to further their study.

Speaker

Dr Catherine Chang, Research Scientist, Research & Development Department, Arkema Thiochemicals Sdn. Bhd.

With a doctoral degree in chemical engineering focusing on bioprocess engineering, Catherine joined Arkema Thiochemicals five years ago as research scientist in the R&D Department. She has been working in multiple projects involving the development of bioprocess as an alternative to existing chemical processes. Catherine has been a member of IChemE since 2010.
