Overview

Renewable energy plays an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. When renewable energy sources are used, the demand for fossil fuels is reduced. One of the major advantages with the use of renewable energy is that it is renewable, therefore sustainable and so will never run out.

Renewable energy sources play a role in providing energy services in a sustainable manner and, in particular, in mitigating climate change.

This topic explores the current contribution and potential of RE sources to provide energy services for a sustainable social and economic development path. It includes innovation in RE technologies, opportunities and challenges of RE implementation.
