Overview

We probably do not know, but we should be thankful to chemical engineers for many daily things, from the waterproof/windproof Gore-tex membrane found in shoes, to cheap access to antibiotics. Unfortunately, there is a current misconception that chemical engineering is related to 'dirty industries' and environmental pollution. In this webinar, we will present some inexpensive outreach hands-on activities developed at Swansea University to explain what chemical engineering is: they can be delivered in standard classrooms/laboratories. The activities have been delivered to different pupils who developed a keen interest in the subject, with some of them deciding to pursue chemical engineering.
