Overview

IChemE’s position on climate change is founded on nine key principles including the endorsement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the acknowledgement that to support the aims of the Paris Agreement, net emissions of carbon dioxide must be reduced to zero and action must start now. With countries like China, Japan, US, EU and UK making net zero pledges in the past year, a key question for 2021 in the run up to COP 26 (Race to Zero) will be the extent to which the high-level political ambitions of governments will start to be translated into project investment reality. Financing decisions that can start to deliver significant progress towards making Net Zero ambitions a reality. Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is considered as one of the key pathways to achieving a net zero future.

This webinar will provide a CCUS overview, touch on markets, policy and determine how CCUS will be an effective enabler for decarbonization across this energy transition. CCUS’s role in delivering net zero in the UK (as described in the UK Government’s 10 point plan CCUS) and also globally will be discussed as well as the key challenges and way forward.
