Overview

The traditional oil and gas industry has recently witnessed huge changes in public perception, impacts of the pandemic and a general shift away from conventional energy sources.

With long careers ahead of us, questions are being asked as to how we may best use our skills in this new world. This talk will cover parallels between ‘traditional’ roles and projects, and what our work may become in the years ahead as well as how we may best prepare ourselves as we potentially stand on the cusp of a new industrial revolution.

The presentation will address the skills required by briefly examining three sectors in which there has been an acceleration in change:

  • Energy transition/decentralised power
  • Biofuels
  • Robotics and automation
