Process Phase Separation Pitfalls and Screening Out the Worst
- Date From 14th January 2020

- Location Society of Chemical Industries, 14/15 Belgrave Square, London, SW1X 8PS
Overview
Two and three phase separators are key process equipment in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Oil & Gas.
Poor performance of phase separators across the industry is associated with $10,000,000s production losses daily.
- What can go wrong?
- How can we remedy?
- How can we avoid mal-performance?
Drawing on over two decades of trouble-shooting and debottlenecking experience world-wide, the presentation will feature summary case studies of real industry applications. Material will include illustrations and videos of CFD modelling and physical lab testing. An approach to good design practice will be demonstrated live with the MySep-Studio software application. This will feature new-build LNG applications and retro-fit remediation of related processes.
Rigorous separator modelling inside process simulation is increasingly recognised as essential to the fidelity of an operational digital twin. A demonstration of how this can already be realised in leading simulators will also feature.
