Webinar: Simulation Strategies for Supercritical CO2 Geosequestration Compressor Design

Webinar: Simulation Strategies for Supercritical CO2 Geosequestration Compressor Design
  • Date From 26th September 2022
  • Date To 26th September 2022
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 18:00 MYT. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Overview

This webinar addresses the following concerns and challenges:

  • Property estimation, specifically density, heat capacity, and heat of vaporization. Property packages in commercial process simulators are tuned for “common” operating ranges and composition profiles. In this case, it was found that default tuning parameters may yield errors of up to 20% on CO2 density, making retuning necessary.
  • “Typical compressor configurations” may result in dry ice formation (CO2 freeze out). It is necessary to revisit compressor train configurations to prevent this from occurring.

Speaker

Ir. Rafil Elyas, Principal Engineer, East One-Zero-One Sdn Bhd

Ir. Rafil Elyas is the founding Principal Engineer of East One-Zero-One Sdn Bhd (East101), a specialist process engineering and flow assurance consultancy company. He has 30 years' work experience using and developing dynamic/transient simulation software for design and operations namely, transient pipeline analysis, liquid and slug management/mitigation, wax management/mitigation, compressor surge protection, plant operability and controls optimization.

He is currently an industrial advisor and adjunct lecturer for several universities in Malaysia as well as registered professional engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers.
