Overview

Responsible Production, Digitalisation

Greenhouse gas emissions reduction has become a top priority all over the globe as efforts to combat climate change intensifies. Recent announcements by leading nations, including the USA, China, and Russia, call for radical actions to achieve reductions of 40-50% relative to 2005 baselines within a decade.

However, although several agencies have reported "typical" opportunities for potentially valuable methane mitigation and average marginal abatement cost curves (MACC), it would be naïve to ignore the fact that the technical and economic feasibility strongly depends on the particular facility configuration and local context.

With limited human resources and the ever-increasing complexity of processes, there is a need for software tools that can ensure that high-quality and consistent emissions estimation methodologies are in use across organizations and that can report on site-specific MACC opportunities.

TEAM is a web-based decision support tool that enables the rigorous techno-economic evaluation and optimization of Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) mitigation strategies while quantifying co-benefits and considering facility-level constraints and local economic parameters. It can be applied at the jurisdictional, regional, operator, and individual facility levels.

Join us to learn more about TEAM and the statistical methods, simulation techniques, and cost estimation methods available to its users.

Speaker

Alberto Alva-Argaez

Alberto Alva-Argaez brings over 25 years of experience in chemical engineering research and process optimization for sustainability. In 1999, Alberto joined a world-leading engineering software company (Hyprotech/ Aspentech) in Calgary as product manager for process optimization and thermodynamics software tools where he led the development of several innovative engineering software tools for process optimization. As Founder and Managing Partner with Process Ecology Inc., Alberto has been leading the Business Development and Engineering Software practice since 2003, leading the development of modern web-based air emissions simulation and management software currently in use by over 45 oil & gas producers in Western Canada.
