Overview

This presentation will introduce the concept of Industrial Symbiosis and assess its relevance for pharmaceutical companies. After defining a common ground, we’d like to reflect on ways to embrace and enhance symbiosis by pharmaceutical companies. Pharmaceutical companies have been found in a great number of symbiosis agreements, according to several reviews. This seems to highlight the potential for optimization that is comprised within pharmaceutical inputs and outputs. Finally, the presentation will reflect on NNE role as a facilitator for three symbioses in Denmark, including the well-known Kalundborg Symbiosis, and some of the key factors to enable the transition towards a more sustainable production.
