Overview

There are a number of molecular spectroscopy techniques that can be applied to chemical processes to yield detailed chemical information online. This talk will review and compare mid-infrared, near-infrared, Raman and UV-Vis spectroscopy as PAT tools. It will include examples where real-time detailed chemical information provides a significant benefit in costs, quality and safety.

This webinar is aimed at instrumentation and control engineers, and control and automation engineers.

John Andrews, Managing Director, Clairet Scientific Ltd

Following a PhD in chemical spectroscopy at the University of East Anglia, John worked for several major companies in technical marketing and management roles. John founded Clairet Scientific in 1994 and the company’s aim has been to move spectroscopy from the lab into on-line applications. Clairet was a founder member of CPACT (Centre for Process Analytics and Control Technology), and supplies Raman, NIR, mid-IR and UV-Vis process spectrometers. Amongst other achievements Clairet installed the first dispersive Raman in a GMP Pharmaceutical plant and the first fully ATEX op is certified Raman system in Europe.

John is one of the tutors at the CPACT Process Spectroscopy Course held annually at Clairet Scientific in Northampton and is a regular speaker at PAT events.
