Yadira is a chemical engineer by background and holds a PhD in applied sciences by Cranfield University. Yadira is a lecturer at Cranfield Water Science Institute, working closely with industrial partners to maximise value from waste treatment. Yadira’s core research area is in bioresources, including anaerobic digestion (AD) of municipal sludge and waste materials, AD pre-treatment technologies and biosolids to land. Yadira also does extensive work in wastewater treatment, looking at the implementation of low carbon and low maintenance technologies, and at the societal value that innovative wastewater and sludge treatment flowsheets can bring to communities.

Yadira also serves as director for the Water and Wastewater Engineering MSc course at Cranfield and manages the UK’s wastewater network, which brings together 11 wastewater utilities and 3 universities to discuss and collaborate in key research needs for the wastewater sector.
