Membership and Qualifications impact

Registration and qualification services for members, universities and companies with accredited training schemes will continue with some adjustments to the method of delivery of these services.

Membership

We are continuing to provide as near a normal service as possible for those making applications for membership. Please note that all our membership interviews will be held online for the foreseeable future. We are very experienced at conducting these virtual interviews.

If you have any queries or might like some advice before making an application, please contact members@icheme.org.

Universities

We have written to universities that have accredited programmes, recognising the very difficult challenges that they and their students face. We know that most will be changing their programme delivery and possibly content at very short notice.

We want to work with universities to ensure that they and their students are not disadvantaged and have asked that they record any changes made and how the impact might be mitigated.

If you believe that you should have received this information and have not seen it, please contact accreditation@icheme.org.

Working with the Engineering Council, we have secured a one-year extension to the accreditation periods of all programmes accredited by IChemE.

The extension has been given to reduce pressure on universities required to prepare submissions during this time, and to avoid a recurring increase in accreditations every 5 years, if programmes due for re-accreditation this year were extended.

We are currently writing to universities to inform them of this extension.

Accredited Company Training Schemes (ACTS)

Companies running Accredited Company Training Schemes (ACTS) with visits scheduled in the coming months are being contacted individually to discuss arrangements.
