Overview

This seminar will review and explain the history and evolution of data volumes, storage and handling in the chemicals sector since the early 80’s. It will also define data types, data storage and exchange as stands today. Big data definition and concept shall be explained, including data handling, predictive analytics, data mining and reporting. Examples of how and where to apply Big Data in the chemicals sector will be given and discussed. Way forward to apply Big Data in existing industries besides mapping Big Data to the Industry 4.0 framework will be highlighted. The seminar will also discuss the benefits of applying Big Data in this sector.

Speaker

Dr. Issam Wadi has experience over 40 years in the energy and other sectors, with focus on the design, engineering, consultancy and application of advanced technology to improve different industries. He held different positions at different companies including major oil companies. Consulted for many clients worldwide, in Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East, with focus on the applications of advanced technology to the oil and gas. Dr Wadi is an approved consultant for the World Bank.

Dr. Wadi has special research interests, in the area of advanced automation, artificial intelligence applications in industrial plants, beside Operations Management and Optimization. Dr Wadi holds PhD degree from Scotland-UK and was a speaker at several international conferences, mostly related to the Oil and Gas. He is author of several articles, published in international journals, such as Hydrocarbon Processing Magazine, Oil and Gas Journal, InTech, Material Engineering and others. He is the author of, “The Last Drop, Humankind Post Oil & Gas” published recently.

A one-hour online session: 40 minutes' presentation + 20 minutes' Q&A.
Duration (for CPD recording purposes): up to one hour.
