The federal government of Canada has formed a joint venture with Canadian Natural Resources and Pond Biofuels to build a $19m bio-fuel plant in the province of Alberta. The government has entered into three-year partnership with the companies through National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to use algae to convert greenhouse gas emissions from oilsands into biofuels.
