Topic

Environmental issues caught the attention of local authorities and the Malaysian government gazetted the Clean Air Regulations 2014 or regarded as CAR2014 on 4th June 2014. CAR 2014 had an aim to regulate the emissions of air pollutants from industrial activities and the law covered many aspects related to emissions which was applicable to several industries including the Oil and Gas industry.

Prompt action was required by the oil and gas facility owners since a grace period of only 5 years was given to the existing facilities to comply. This required fast action from the facility owners and this talk would give you an exclusive insight on the journey towards compliance to CAR 2014.

The journey involved multidiscipline integrated approach that required legal and policy interpretation with technical know-how towards a single goal of self-regulation and compliance. Besides, this journey also resulted in development of a sophisticated technology, PETRONAS’s own predictive technology to measure emission. Thus, this talk would be a great platform to broaden and enhance knowledge on laws and compliance other than a sharing session on PETRONAS’s emission technology.
