Hugh Dennis to host IChemE awards
TV personality Hugh Dennis will host the international 2011 IChemE awards dinner in Birmingham, UK on 3 November.
Best known for his starring roles in BBC television shows Outnumbered and Fast and Loose, Dennis is a former Unilever brand manager and made his name as one half of Punt & Dennis. He and Steve Punt still appear together on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, whilst Dennis also captains his team on Mock the Week.
Dennis started his entertainment career when he turned his talent for impressions to better use and began to provide voices for Spitting Image. He then became a regular guest on the Jasper Carott Show and joined the team on The Mary Whitehouse Experience.
“Every year the IChemE awards dinner fuses top-class entertainment with the opportunity to celebrate the best in chemical, process and biochemical engineering from all over the world,” says IChemE communications manager Matt Stalker.
Around 500 guests are expected to attend the awards dinner which takes place at the ICC in Birmingham.
Now in their 18th year, the awards are highly regarded throughout the process industries for recognising and rewarding chemical engineering excellence and innovation. The best overall award entry will be presented with the highly coveted Outstanding achievement in chemical and process engineering prize, with 13 other award categories to reward both individual and team success.

About chemical engineers
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, maths and economics to the process of turning raw materials into everyday products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
