Legal expert to speak at Hazards Australasia

Michael Tooma
Michael Tooma – one of Australia’s leading occupational health and safety lawyers – is the latest high profile speaker to be confirmed for the Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) inaugural Hazards Australasia conference in Perth.

Tooma, a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, will speak about process safety management from a legal perspective and draw upon his impressive experience as a lawyer, reformer, lecturer, author and commentator in the field of occupational health and safety.

Tooma joins previously confirmed keynote speakers Jane Cutler, chief executive of Australia’s offshore safety regulator, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) and Vince Santostefano, chief operating officer of Australia’s largest independent oil and gas operator, Woodside.

IChemE’s Australasia director Peter Slane said: “Hazards Australasia’s speaker line-up is getting stronger and stronger and Michael’s addition ensures that we will have one of the most authoritative speakers on the legal aspects of process safety.

“He is widely recognised as one of the best lawyers in the field of occupational health and safety and will ensure delegates receive a unique and influential insight into this critical area of process safety management.”
