Syngenta awarded IChemE bronze corporate partner status

Syngenta, one of the world’s leading agrochemical companies has been awarded Bronze Corporate Partnership status by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).

The Swiss headquartered company has been recognised by IChemE for demonstrating significant investment in the professional development of its graduate chemical engineers. Syngenta provides a wide-ranging framework to support its graduates, including coaching and mentoring, secondments, and internal and external job training courses.

With over 28,000 employees in 90 countries, Syngenta are dedicated to increasing crop productivity, protecting the environment and improving health and quality of life.

IChemE director of policy, Andy Furlong, said: “I am delighted to welcome Syngenta to our growing family of corporate partners. Syngenta does this providing great support for career development and promoting Chartered Engineer status.”

Furlong added: “As the world’s population grows and demand for food increases, we face a major sustainability challenge. Syngenta are confronting this challenge by putting its chemical engineers to work on solving problems in the global food chain.

Syngenta’s Bronze Corporate Partner status will covers its UK sites in Bracknell, Grangemouth, and Huddersfield.

The company received its certificate from IChemE’s Neil Atkinson, director of qualifications and international development, during a presentation ceremony at its Jealott’s Hill International Research Centre in Bracknell, UK on 29 April 2015.

IChemE’s corporate award partner scheme has a three-tiered structure to incorporate companies of all sizes and includes independent validation of an employer’s commitment to career development.

Other organisations in the bronze category include Aker Solutions, Atkins, Costain, Cristal, Johnson Matthey, La Farge Tarmac, Morgan Sindall, OSL and United Utilities.
