The Chemical Engineers Benevolent Fund is your support charity.

Founded in 1928 by a dedicated group of chemical engineers, our mission has always been simple: to provide help to chemical engineers and their families in times of need.

For over 90 years since we've stood by our community, ready to lend a hand. Although we work closely with IChemE, we’re an independent charity with our own board of trustees.

No matter what life throws at you, we offer support and assistance, walking alongside you every step of the way. Whether due to job loss, health issues, family matters, or housing problems, we're here to help. Get confidential help now.

How we help

Life can bring unexpected challenges and your financial situation can quickly change. We offer short-term and one-off means-tested grants to help you get back on track, no matter where you live in the world.

• Living costs: Have your circumstances changed suddenly? Whether due to job loss, health issues, family matters, or housing problems, we offer short-term monthly payments to assist you during this time.
• Energy costs: Have your circumstances changed suddenly? Whether due to job loss, health issues, family matters, or housing problems, we offer short-term monthly payments to assist you during this time.
• Housing and repairs grants: Facing unexpected costs for home repairs or essential appliance replacements? Our grants can help cover these large and unforeseen expenses.
• Health: Dental treatment, glasses and hearing aids can be expensive. Our Health Grant can help you if you’ve put off a much-needed appointment because of the costs.
• Aids and adaptations: Need help to live more independently? We provide grants for assistive technologies, mobility aids, equipment, and home adaptations to support you and your family.
• School uniform: Outfitting your children in new uniforms, shoes, and PE kits can be costly. Our School Uniform Grant helps you to get them ready for the new school term.

Donations

We’re funded by generous donations from chemical engineers as part of their IChemE subscription. If you’re able to support us, you can also donate directly to the Benevolent Fund.
