IChemE condolences following death of Sultan Azlan Shah

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) offers its sincere condolences following the death of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-Lah on 28 May 2014.

Born in 1928, the late Sultan of Perak was educated in the UK at the University of Nottingham, where he studied law. In recent times the Royal Family has been a great supporter of UK-based IChemE, which has an office in Malaysia.

Last year, HRH Raja Puan Besar of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, D.K.S.A, D.K.A. who studied chemical engineering in the UK, was guest of honour at IChemE’s Awards for chemical engineering excellence in Malaysia. Last month, HRH Tuanku Zara Salim was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Chair of IChemE’s Malaysia Board, Mr Paul Ellis CEng FIChemE, managing director of Schaefer Kalk (M) Sdn Bhd, said: “Everyone at IChemE was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah. 

“We have sent our condolences to the Royal Family, the State Government and the People of Perak Darul Ridzuan on the loss of a great Sultan. Our hearts and prays go out to HRH Tuanku and the Royal Family of Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan.”

Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah died, aged 86, at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur and was laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum in Kuala Kangsar.
