New Knovel titles for 2015

Over 25 new titles have been added to IChemE’s Knovel e-library collection. This is to keep it up to date with the latest selection of leading chemical engineering reference resources.
Knovel is an online resource that integrates technical information with analytical and search tools via the IChemE website. Knovel is not just an e-library, it is also a problem solving tool that finds reliable and accurate information that can help members develop products and formulate solutions.
IChemE's subscription with Knovel provides members free access to over 300 leading reference sources and databases on a wide range of chemical engineering topics.
The new title choices cover some of the key priority areas identified in IChemE’s technical strategy document, Chemical Engineering Matters – in energy, safety, water, food, health and wellbeing.
A sample of these include:
- Energy Optimization in Process Systems and Fuel Cells
- Safety and Security Review for the Process Industries - Application of HAZOP PHA What-if and SVA Reviews
- Yaws' Handbook of Properties for Aqueous Systems
- Role of Catalysis for the Sustainable Production of Bio-Fuels and Bio-Chemicals
- Rules of Thumb for Chemical Engineers
- Dictionary of Food Science and Technology
IChemE director policy and communications Andrew Furlong said that regrettably, the Design Institute for Physical Properties database (DIPPR) is no longer available through IChemE's Knovel collection.
“The database was withdrawn from Knovel by its publisher and is a decision beyond the control of IChemE and Elsevier, who own Knovel.”
He added that thermo-physical property data for thousands of compounds is availabile on Knovel, specifically the databases from Carl Yaws, including Yaw's Handbook of Thermodynamic and Physical Properties of Chemical Compounds, which is available to IChemE's members.
