New UK IChemE board established

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has established a new UK board and elected two new board members to oversee its activities in the UK.

Jane Atkinson, a senior vice president of Sembcorp Utilities UK and Iain Calcott, general manager of Foster Wheeler’s Glasgow office, were appointed to IChemE’s new UK board, following an election involving 13 other candidates.

The new UK board was established at IChemE’s Annual General Meeting in London on 20 May 2013 and will be chaired by IChemE’s new president, Judith Hackitt CBE.

The board will be responsible for directing and developing the Institution‘s activities in the UK and will complement similar board structures in Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand.

Jane AtkinsonFive existing IChemE Council members have also been appointed to the UK board – Bill Harper, Geoff Maitland, Peter Hunt, Julian Chaudhuri and Jon-Paul Sherlock.

On her appointment Jane Atkinson said: “I am really proud to be elected to this significant role on the new UK board for IChemE. I’m looking forward to helping and influencing the strategic direction of the Institution in the UK as it continues to play an important part in the process community.”
