OSL's commitment to engineering talent recognised

25th January 2016

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has awarded Optimus Services Limited (OSL) Consulting Engineers, an engineering and design consultancy based in Hull, Silver Corporate Partnership status.

OSL Consulting was previously awarded Bronze Corporate Partnership by IChemE in early 2014, after demonstrating its commitment to skills with an accredited training scheme and mentoring programmes.

The upgrade to silver status recognises OSL’s continuing commitment to professional development, in particular supporting staff working to become Chartered, and helping to inspire the next generation of chemical engineers.

OSL joins a select group of organisations in the Silver Corporate Partner category, which includes AstraZeneca and India’s Larsen & Toubro.

Principal Director at OSL, Alastair Robertson, said: “OSL's progression to Silver Corporate Partner status is an acknowledgement of our efforts in working with local schools and universities to inspire the next generation of young engineers.'

“We believe that every engineer's competencies and capabilities should develop and improve over time, and this is something we embrace within our company. This is a significant achievement for a company of our size but it demonstrates what SMEs can do with determination and passion.'

IChemE chief executive, David Brown, presented the company with a certificate confirming their Silver Corporate Partnership status at the OSL head office in Kingston upon Hull. He said: “IChemE is delighted to recognise OSL’s commitment to continuing professional development.'

“It’s great to see an SME-sized engineering consultancy like OSL championing Chartered Status amongst their younger chemical engineers. They’ve got an eye on the future too and their work in the local community, and at school and university level, plays a big part in securing the talent pipeline in Humberside.”
