IChemE award for energy consultancy Xodus Group
26th July 2018
International energy consultancy Xodus Group has been presented with the Silver Corporate Partner Award by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). The company received the recognition for its commitment to supporting engineers’ professional development and advocating the profession to school pupils through various outreach activities.
IChemE’s Deputy President, Andrew Thompson, and Chief Executive, Jon Prichard, presented Caroline Laurenson, Xodus’ senior consultant and IChemE Accredited Company Training Scheme manager, with the Silver Corporate Partner certificate today (26 July 2018) at the firm’s head office in Aberdeen.
Xodus provides outstanding support to its process engineers, helping them to become world-class leaders in the profession. It regularly holds technical coaching sessions to develop their knowledge, and hosts in-house training on the unique aspects of upstream oil and gas.
Achieving Chartered Chemical Engineer status is widely advocated, and more experienced engineers are encouraged to become Fellows of IChemE.
The organisation was also recognised for inspiring the next generation of engineers in Aberdeen. It works closely with local primary schools to promote the profession, and has hosted workshops and events to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day and British Science Week.
Each year, Xodus helps budding engineers develop key skills through industrial and university placements schemes provided by the company. Undergraduates work on real industry projects to put their knowledge into practice.
Its engineers are also supported and encouraged to participate in voluntary work, and many are active members of IChemE’s Oil and Natural Gas Special Interest group, and Aberdeen Members Group.
IChemE Deputy President Andrew Thompson said:
“Xodus is dedicated to ensuring its process engineers are reaching their potential and are the best they can be. This is evident in their dedication to sharing knowledge and expertise - through internal training sessions, supporting engineers in getting Chartered, and encouraging them to take on volunteer roles that benefit the profession. Through all this, engineers at Xodus have become exceptional role models for the next generation of chemical engineers.
“Congratulations to everyone at Xodus for this Silver Corporate Partner Award.”
Steve Swindell, managing director of Xodus Group said:
“This award recognises our achievements in meeting IChemE’s standard for commitment to the chemical engineering profession, and its standards for the training and professional development of our staff.
“We are honoured to receive this title which has only been possible due to the hard work and dedication of our team.”
