2016 Fellow Akshay Deshmukh

Akshay Deshmuk was a postgraduate chemical engineering student at Yale University, Connecticut, US, at the time of being awarded the Ashok Kumar Fellowship in 2016.

His PhD project involved finding energy efficient ways of processing contaminated water into clean drinking water. This was highly relevant to a parliamentary Fellowship in that year with emission reduction targets a high priority for UK government after the UK was one of many nations to adopt the Paris Agreement at the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21).

As part of his three-month Fellowship, he produced a POSTnote on nuclear security and following his Fellowship he shared his experiences on what he learned in a blog in October 2016.
