Strengthening pathways into the profession: join the discussion in September

19th August 2026

Recent discussions at the Employer Partner networking lunch highlighted a number of shared challenges facing organisations looking to attract, develop and retain future engineering talent.

Employer Partners, students, graduates and researchers identified several common themes, including the value of industrial placements, the importance of strong links between academia and industry, and the need to help graduates develop professional skills alongside technical competence.

These conversations have already helped shape activity across the Employer Partner network, including the development of additional support for graduate skills and career development. They have also highlighted a growing interest in how employers and universities can work together to strengthen pathways into the profession.

Building on these discussions, the next Employer Partner meeting on 9 September 2026 at Imperial College London will bring together Employer Partners and Education Partners to explore practical opportunities for closer collaboration between industry and academia. Join the discussion and share your organisation's experiences of placements, graduate recruitment, professional skills development and university engagement.
