Functional safety is a key component of managing process and operational risk within industrial facilities. This presentation introduces the principles of functional safety, explains the safety lifecycle, and demonstrates how these concepts are applied in practice across industrial projects.

New Zealand's First Steam-Generating Heat Pump

Presented by: Dr Keegan Hall, Ahuora Centre for Smart Energy Systems, University of Waikato

High-temperature heat pumps offer a pathway to electrifying industrial process heat while improving efficiency and reducing emissions. This presentation explores the design and development of New Zealand's first steam-generating heat pump at the University of Waikato and discusses opportunities for industry adoption.
