Jack Loftus Medal
The Jack Loftus Medal was created by IChemE’s Project Management Subject Group and recognised outstanding contribution in the field of project management.
It is now being brought back to celebrate individuals who have excelled in project management relating to construction management, and who have significant experience of managing contracts – either as a client, contractor, or consultant.
The widening of the scope recognises that all design and construction projects are controlled by contracts, and the importance of acquiring an in-depth experience of successfully using contracts and knowledge of the appropriate contracts for the process industries.
The medals seeks to celebrate individuals who have excelled at project management, including contract management, in the process industries.
Criteria this medal will be judged against:
- Length of experience in project management
- Breadth and complexity of experience in project management. This might include, but is not limited to, the following examples:
- demonstrated excellence in time and cost management
- managing “fast track” project execution
- development and application of traditional and/or novel project management tools such as AI
- working in a range of global geographies and cultures
- projects in challenging circumstances, such as post-environmental disaster remediation
- management of advanced science and technology projects.
- Experience in contract management – experience should ideally relate to IChemE Forms of Contracts but we will also consider experience with other performance based contracts, such as FIDIC.
