Overview

Watercare is embarking on one of New Zealand's most ambitious tunnelling projects with the construction of the new Central Interceptor wastewater tunnel. This 13km wastewater collection tunnel, will run from Western Springs to Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant and help to protect public health and the environment by providing increased network capacity for Auckland's growth and capture of combined sewer overflows. 

The talk will include modelling and challenges during design, acid resistant concrete and other research and development that has been performed specifically for this project.
