Overview

Awards presentation of the Hutchinson Medal to this years winners from the University of Sheffield. The winners will present their work and current activities in combining behavioural and environmental sciences to make reusable packaging the mainstream norm.

Presenters

Rachael Rothman, Professor of Sustainable Chemical Engineering

Rachael Rothman is a Professor of Sustainable Chemical Engineering with expertise in the development and analysis of sustainable processes and clean energy systems. She is the Academic Lead for Sustainability at the University of Sheffield and a founding member of the Circular Economy for Plastics LCA network.

Harriet Baird, Lecturer, University of Sheffield

Harriet Baird is a lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sheffield with interests and expertise in understanding people’s behaviour and behaviour change, particularly with respect to health and environmental behaviours.

Sarah Greenwood, Sustainable & Plastics Consultant, University of Sheffield

Sarah Greenwood MSc (Eng) is a sustainable packaging and plastics consultant with over 25 years’ experience working in industry. Holding degrees in Physics and Polymer Science, she began her career in packaging as a development technologist on high performance packaging films at BP. As a fellow of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining, she is chair of the North of England Packaging Society and is a member of the IOM3 Packaging leadership group.

Stuart Walker, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Exeter

Stuart Walker is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Exeter. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 2007, Stuart worked as a low carbon building consultant before undertaking a PhD in Tidal Turbine hydrodynamics. His research is now focused on assessing the environmental impact of Tidal Stream and wind energy and the potential for biologically-based materials. Stuart is a chartered engineer and member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and a STEM Ambassador.
