Election process

The call for nominations opens on 09 February 2027 at 14:00 GMT, and closes on 03 March 2027 at 09:30 GMT for the following positions:

Deputy President
Vice President Learned Society
Ordinary Member
Regional Member RoW

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of IChemE and therefore members appointed to the Board are responsible for ensuring IChemE complies with its charitable obligations and setting the strategic direction.

Nominations

Nominations open on 09 February 2027 at 14:00 GMT and close on 03 March 2027 at 09:30 GMT.

Nominations are to be submitted via the nomination form on the web-based platform hosted by election services provider Mi-Voice. This includes an election statement (200 words max), a short CV, brief biographical details (300 words max), a brief outline of the appropriate skills and expertise they bring to the role (200 words max), information on any other trusteeships that they hold, a photograph and a short (2-3 minutes max) video to set out their case for election. The photograph and video will appear on the voting site alongside the election statements and biographical details if a ballot is required.

Each nomination must be supported by five current members, who are entitled to vote (Fellows, Chartered Members or Associate Members of IChemE). A Voting Member may not nominate more than one candidate in total for the 2027 elections. Please note that serving Trustees are not able to act as nominators (including lead nominators), nor are any members of the Succession Planning Committee, Nominations Committee or members of the Institution staff who may be voting members.

If more nominations than vacancies are received, then a ballot of all members eligible to vote for those positions will commence and the successful candidates will take their places on the Board of Trustees with effect from the end of the AGM, which will be held on 22 June 2027.
