Board of Trustees election

Nominations have now closed. If multiple valid nominations are received for any of the vacant positions, then a ballot of all eligible members will need to take place. Candidates for election will be announced on 2 May 2024.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of IChemE and therefore members appointed to the Board are responsible for ensuring IChemE complies with its charitable obligations and setting the strategic direction. Detailed below are the list of retiring members of the Board of Trustees.

Retiring Board Members

In accordance with By-law 76, not later than eleven weeks before each Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Board of Trustees is required to send a list of the retiring members of the Board to each Voting Member who is entitled to vote.

The office of President and Past President retire annually but are succeeded in accordance with the By-laws by the Deputy President and President, respectively.

The list of retiring Trustees at the 2024 AGM is:

  • Mr Mark Apsey (Deputy President): as Mr Apsey will succeed to the role of President at the AGM a vacancy for Deputy President therefore exists.
  • Dr Rob Best (Vice President – Qualifications)
  • Mrs Andrea Hosey (Vice President – Member Engagement)
  • Ms Alexandra Meldrum (Vice President – Learned Society)
  • Mrs Macsene Isles-Ahite (Ordinary Member)
  • Mr Mark Sutton (Ordinary Member)
  • Mr Rhys Tucker (Regional/Ordinary Member – RoW seat)

The following Trustees shall remain in office for the 2024/2025 term:

  • Dr David Edwards (Treasurer)
  • Ms Adriana Vargas-Colwill (Ordinary Member)
  • Professor Raffaella Ocone (Regional/Ordinary Member – UK seat)

Roles open

Nominations have now closed for the following positions:

  • President for 2025/2026 (Deputy President from June 2024)
  • Vice President (Qualifications) – for a one-year term only
  • Vice President (Member Engagement) – for a two-year term
  • Vice President (Learned Society) – for a three-year term
  • Ordinary Member – for a two-year term
  • Ordinary Member – for a three-year term
  • ‘Regional’ Ordinary Member (Rest of World seat)

Timescales

Nominations opened on 12 March 2024 at 14:00 GMT and closed on 02 April 2024 at 09:30 BST.

If multiple valid nominations are received for any of the vacant positions, then a ballot of all eligible members will commence in May. Successful candidates will take up their positions with effect from the end of IChemE’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 11 June 2024.
