About us

Australia represents 10% of IChemE’s global membership base, making it the third largest on the international membership table.

Formation of a local IChemE association was established in the early 1960’s. The Victorian Group of IChemE was formed in December 1962 and was closely followed by the establishment of the New South Wales and South Australian groups. In May 1967, the Australian state groups agreed to form the Australian National Committee, giving birth to the Institution of Chemical Engineers in Australia.

IChemE’s Australian office hosts two major conferences, Chemeca (jointly with EA and RACI) and Hazards Australasia. It also runs a comprehensive programme of training courses that can also be offered in-house. For more information on training and events, please contact us.

We are an approved assessor for the Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) registration.
