Broadcaster Steph McGovern to host IChemE Global Awards

UK business and finance journalist, and award winning engineer, Steph McGovern, is to host the Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) Global Awards on 5 November 2015.

Steph is a regular presenter and host on television and radio reporting on major economic, financial and business news on programmes including BBC TV’s Breakfast.

Originally from one of the UK’s major chemical engineering hubs, Middlesbrough, Teesside, Steph attended University College London, where she studied Science Communication and Policy.

A former winner of Young Engineer for Britain, she started her TV broadcasting career as a teenager on a programme about women in science. Since then, her journalistic talents have taken her around the world including reports on the biofuels industry in South America.

The IChemE Global Awards, in association with Aramco, celebrate innovation and excellence in the chemical, process and biochemical industries. The event is being held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Birmingham, UK, on 5 November 2015.

In addition to event partner Aramco, the event is being supported by Costain, AstraZeneca, Sellafield Ltd, PM Group, Bouygues Energies & Services, NES Global Talent, Simon Carves Engineering, ABB Consulting, GlaxoSmithKline, Rolls-Royce, and Reliance Industries.

Steph will be joined by around 500 guests and will present awards in 16 categories, including the overall Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering won last year by Australia-based Synergen Met Pty Ltd, in collaboration with the University of Queensland, for their cyanide production technology.
