IChemE announce Singapore Awards 2016 finalists

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has officially announced the finalists for the IChemE Singapore Awards 2016. Nearly forty entries have made the final stages of the Awards, and an overall winner from each category will be revealed on 21 October 2016.
The IChemE Singapore Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement in the chemical, process and biochemical industries. The National University of Singapore (NUS) triumphed at the 2015 awards, winning in three of the five categories, and has made several appearances on the 2016 finalist roster.
Other organisations in Singapore’s higher education making the grade include the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and Singapore Polytechnic.
Other finalists are Glaxo Wellcome Manufacturing, PacificLight Power, Shell Chemicals Seraya, Senscient, Croda, Metabolic Engineering Research Lab, Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Advanced Environmental Biotechnology, and Mitsui Phenols.
This year, two new awards have been introduced to include an Energy Award, and a Young Chemical Engineer in Industry Award – with young chemical engineers from Proctor & Gamble, Petroleum Conservation Research Association and Croda up for a trophy.
The IChemE Singapore Awards 2016 take place on 21 October 2016, at the Shangri-La Hotel where the winners will be announced. The ceremony in Singapore is just one of three international events organised by IChemE to celebrate chemical engineering achievements. Other events include the IChemE Malaysia Awards (24 October 2016) and the IChemE Global Awards (3 November 2016).
Winners of the IChemE Singapore Awards will be automatically shortlisted for the IChemE Global Awards, held in Manchester, UK, including the overall Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering, which will be selected from all entries received worldwide.
IChemE’s director for South East Asia, Bakhtiar Talhah, said:
