IChemE announces participation in new ITN Business programme, ‘Engineering: Today, Tomorrow & Beyond’

9th April 2024

IChemE is pleased to confirm its involvement in ‘Engineering: Today, Tomorrow & Beyond,’ a forthcoming digital news-style programme produced by ITN Business.

Launching on National Engineering Day, Wednesday 13 November 2024, the programme will explore the positive work currently underway across the spectrum of engineering disciplines, increase awareness of the vast range of career opportunities within the engineering sector, and reaffirm the critical importance of chemical and process engineers in achieving our net zero and sustainability commitments.

Presented by Dr Shini Somara, ‘Engineering: Today, Tomorrow & Beyond’ will feature interviews with key opinion leaders from IChemE and other prominent professional engineering institutions: the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Civil Engineers, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. It will also include engaging reporter-led content and powerful case studies that shine a light on the engineering businesses and other organisations leading the way towards a more sustainable world.

IChemE Director of Member Experience and Professional Learning, Dr Rachel Bibby, said “IChemE is dedicated to championing the positive contributions that chemical and process engineers make to society and the environment. Collaborating with ITN Business and our fellow professional engineering institutions on this production will enable us to raise the profile of the chemical engineering profession to wider audiences across society. It will also help to inspire and encourage our future talent pools, in order to ensure that all engineering disciplines are equipped with the individuals needed to address the global grand challenges and create a sustainable future.”

‘Engineering: Today, Tomorrow & Beyond’ will be hosted on the ITN Business Content Hub and promoted across various digital channels alongside a campaign with The New Scientist.

What is chemical engineering?

Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.

IChemE

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 30,000 members in more than 100 countries.

We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
