Professional registrations

Professional Process Safety Engineer

In order to better protect society, IChemE introduced the Professional Process Safety Engineer registration which provides public recognition to peer-reviewed practitioners working in process safety-related roles. The Professional Process Safety Engineer Register is the successor to IChemE's Safety Register.

Professional Process Safety Engineers can demonstrate:

  • they can perform professional process safety work to the necessary standards
  • the ability to maintain their competence
  • they work within professional codes
  • active participation within the profession.

We are updating our application process for Professional Process Safety Engineer registration. We look forward to welcoming applications from across the process safety community when we re-launch the registration in 2024. Following the relaunch, those who become a Professional Process Safety Engineer and aren't already registered with Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) will be eligible.

If you'd like to receive updates on the Professional Process Safety Engineer relaunch, please register your interest and we will keep you informed.
