Haji Alhaji Mohammed is originally from the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. He gained a BEng in chemical engineering in 2004, followed by an MSc in chemical engineering in 2013, and later completed a PhD in chemical engineering and energy sustainability at the University of Malaysia Sarawak.

Before enrolling at University for his first degree and after high school, Haji Alhaji Mohammed worked briefly as a technical assistant at the Scientific Equipment Development Institute, Minna-Nigeria, where he was trained as a scientific glass blower specialising in the production of laboratory glassware such as conical flasks and condensers. During his first degree. he was also trained at the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, for six months, where he worked in the lube oil production section, specifically at the furfural extraction unit, a unit responsible for the removal of furfural from raffinate and extract products.

Haji Alhaji Mohammed also worked as an education officer, where he specialised in teaching STEM subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, biology, and physics. He teaches extra-mural classes to students living in his community, most are now architects, medical doctors, and pharmacists. During his master’s program, he joined the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Zaria-Kaduna, as Research Officer 1 and rose to the position of Chief Research Officer in 2021. He also worked briefly with the UK Environment Agency as an Installation Officer-Regulations between 2022 and 2023.

Aside from this, his master’s research on photochemical treatment of tannery mill effluent (TAME), he was able to publish his research findings in referred academic journals. In 2018, he also conducted research on the Photocatalytic treatment of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) for his PhD.
