Hong Wai Onn is a Chartered Engineer, Professional Process Safety Engineer, and a Fellow of IChemE with nearly two decades of experience in the vegetable oil and biotechnology industries. His expertise spans production, engineering, project management, applied research, process safety, and leadership.

Throughout his career, Hong Wai Onn has championed the application of chemical and biochemical engineering to make industrial processes greener and more efficient. He is also an active in environmental-related projects, including circular bioeconomy.

Hong Wai Onn has been actively involved with IChemE for many years, previously serving as the Honorary Secretary for the IChemE Malaysia Board. Currently, he contributes as a member of the Learned Society Committee, the RSub Committee, and the Virtual Election Panel.

Beyond IChemE, he is dedicated to advancing engineering excellence and sustainability. He has collaborated with government agencies, industry leaders, and research institutions to drive the adoption of sustainable practices and technologies.

He also serves as an Accreditation Panel Member with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Malaysia Board of Technologists, ensuring engineering/technology programs meet high academic and professional standards. Additionally, he contributes to Industry Advisory Panels at several universities, helping align engineering education with industry needs.

With a strong technical background and a passion for engineering leadership, he is committed to contributing further to the IChemE Congress and strengthening Malaysia’s voice in global discussions.
