Carolyn is an MIChemE Professional Process Safety Engineer and Operations Director of RAS Limited, a UK based specialist risk consultancy.

Carolyn’s current work is predominantly with clients in the UK, working to ensure COMAH and DSEAR compliance, but her expertise in major accident hazard management also takes her further afield, supporting multinational clients.

Carolyn has experience within several industry sectors including oil and gas (storage, distribution, and refining), aviation, specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical, and food & drink. She has particular interest and expertise in risk assessment (ranging from qualitative through to fully quantified) and ALARP demonstration, both for safety to people and the environment.

Carolyn works closely with her clients, coaching and facilitating studies and helping operators to understand and effectively communicate their risk to all relevant stakeholders, in particular the regulator. She is involved in developing process safety management processes for a number of organisations, and delivers bespoke training, performance monitoring and compliance ‘health checks’ to help leaders improve and maintain their systems for risk management.

She has a wealth of experience supporting large projects from early concept right through to operations.

Carolyn is involved with a number of associations and working groups both personally and on behalf of RAS Ltd including Secretary of the IChemE Safety and Loss Prevention Special Interest Group, EEMUA, Energy Institute, IChemE Safety Centre, TSA, Chemical Industries Association, FABIG, Safety & Reliability Society, Chemical Business Association, EPSC, IGEM, Chemicals North West, NEPIC, and Catch.
