Kenechukwu Ugonabo
Kenechukwu is a process engineer at Airhive Ltd, where he is involved in the design, commissioning, operation, and deployment of next-generation Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies, including the Innovate UK-funded TENET demonstration project delivered in collaboration with Teesside University.
He holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering with Distinction from Teesside University, where his research focused on thermochemical energy storage for sustainable industrial heat systems and its application to Direct Air Capture.
His professional interests include carbon capture and removal, thermal energy storage, industrial decarbonisation, and the commercialisation of climate technologies. His work was recognised through selection as a finalist in the 2026 IChemE Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability (YEAIS).
As a member of the IChemE Member Engagement Committee, Kenechukwu is passionate about supporting students and early-career engineers, strengthening engagement across the profession, and inspiring the next generation of chemical engineers
