Member Engagement Committee
The Member Engagement Committee was formed in late 2021 to bring a member focus to IChemE’s strategic aim to be acknowledged as a peer group leader in which an engaged membership receives and adds value. The committee supports the development of initiatives and activities that maximise member participation, improve outreach and collaboration, and support all members across the full member lifecycle.
The committee’s focus areas have been developed from member feedback received from the 2021 member engagement survey as follows:
- Career Journey Support: The ambition is to improve communication around the breadth of CPD within the membership package and refreshing mentoring to be scalable and accessible for the whole career journey.
- Students and Early Careers: The early careers working group has been formed to better understand the needs and expectations of student and early careers members for IChemE to remain relevant now and into the future.
- Volunteer Engagement: The goal is to ensure volunteering opportunities are openly advertised, help volunteers to build their networks and improve recognition of volunteer contributions.
The Member Engagement Committee is chaired by the Vice President Member Engagement and comprises of ten members plus three co-opted members. View our volunteer group structure.

Chair - Vice President Member Engagement
Andrea Hosey CEng FIChemE was previously the Victorian representative on the Australian National Board of IChemE and was elected as Vice President Member Engagement in June 2021.
Wendy Wilson
Vice Chair – Co-opted Member, Board of Trustees
Wendy Wilson was co-opted to the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021 following her early involvement and support to member engagement.
Sameen Barabhuiya

Sameen Barabhuiya was selected for the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021 and is a representative on the NECC Working Group.
Kathleen Cox
Committee Member - Co-opted Student Representative
Kathleen Cox is a student at the University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane, Australia and was co-opted as one of the student representatives to the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021.
Pádraig Dennehy

Pádraig Dennehy is a chemical engineering student at University College Cork and was co-opted as one of the student representatives to the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021.
Earl Hutchison
Committee Member
Earl Hutchison CEng CEnv supports mentoring and university outreach and was selected for the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021. He is leading the mentoring initiative.
Utkarsha Joshi
Committee Member
Utkarsha Joshi CEng FIChemE was selected for the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021. He represents the committee on the Climate Change Working Group.
Dariya Nurtazayeva

Dariya Nurtazayeva was selected for the Member Engagement Committee in December 2021 and brings significant member group experience as well as being a representative on the NECC Working Group.
Ashfaq Palejwala
