Chemical engineering and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The world's ambition to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) needs chemical engineers. Below you will find a set of classroom posters showcasing the roles that chemical engineers play in achieving these goals and towards the bottom of the page you will find an animation that describes in more detail how chemical engineers are leading the practical application of new and emerging technologies.

Posters

View and download three classroom posters which demonstrate how chemical engineers will play a vital role in addressing some of the key global challenges. The three posters are aimed at primary schools (I want to…), lower secondary schools (It’s time to…) and post-16 or Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) teachers (Chemical engineers will…). The three posters carry the same message with a slightly different level of text depending on the age group, demonstrating why chemical engineers are instrumental in solving many of the fundamental issues facing the planet today. Download the posters below for free.

Teachers who have signed up to the new DiscoverChemEng Educator Network will be able to request hard copies of the posters from November 2023.

Animation

Watch our animation 'How chemical engineers can reimagine the future for everyone' which examines how joined-up thinking by chemical engineers can deliver solutions to society’s future challenges.
